” Lost “
” Sometimes lost treasures can be reclaimed. ” – Rebecca Wells.
” Lost ” narrates the story of two remarkable yet forgotten emblems. It portrays the beauty of a bedouin woman, carrying a water jar on her shoulders and wearing a traditional head-covering dress that can depict the genuine beauty of the amazeghian culture and lifestyle from which the artist is inspired. The woman is surrounded by the Sahara, where the “bedu” where known to live, and by Petra; the lost city with which she shares the same destiny. While the bedouin woman symbolizes the vanishing Tunisian authenticity, Petra represents the lost Jordanian city and this artwork is my way, as an artist, to reclaim and immortalize the two treasures.
